ANOTHER TRACK AND FIELD ATHLETE BITES THE DUST

Ok. I love my sport I really do but these athletes that are failing drug test are making it hard for alot of future and current track and field competitors. US 400m Olympic champion, LaShawn Merritt has been suspended for 2 years on the grounds of failing 3 consecutive drug test. He claims that he had no idea of the over-the-counter male enhancing supplement was the cause.

Now, many say that LaShawn is an honest man and I believe that. He did admit to taking the drug, but at what point do not read the labels. USA track and field administration gives you a ban list of all the drugs, supplments, etc that you can not have in your system. Why was he not clear with this regulation? He knows that they are going to enforce these regulations on the athletes due to the drug use history in the sport. Come on guys!! Run clean and fair!!
I wonder if Jeremy Wariner is smiling?

Penn Relays 2010

I must say watching the Penn Relays always gets me excited all over again about the sport of Track and Field. It makes me wish I was still running; I am anxious as if I am preparing to run as I watch these great athletes compete. USA women have certainly redeemed themselves in the relays, having dropped the baton in the last two major championships.
There were no outstanding performances, everyone did there part. The USA men have a little more work, but they are headed in the right direction. Overall the USA team did represent on the homeland. However, Jamaica is still in the lead in relays. They are a force to be reckoned with both men and women relays. Of course, Usain Bolt did his appearance in the 4x100 relay and "Yes" he did his thing. He split a 8.79 in the 4x100, which is unheard of these days. I still say Jesse Owens holds the 4x100 split 8.64. Usain is mighty close though.

Collegiate athletes were representing as well. In my opinion, there were no outstanding performances as well. Everyone that ran did there part on the team and the results showed. But I must add that Texas A&M still has me baffled on there efforts to takeover the forefront. I am cheering for you guys.

Exercising to Keep the weight off!!!!!!

Twenty minutes of moderate exercise a day is suffient to produce cardiovascular benefits, but for women who want to keep the pounds off its not nearly enough says Los Angeles Times. Harvard researches followed 34,000 relatively healthy middle-aged and older women from 1992 to 2007, and found that only those who exercised an hour a day managed to keep from steadily gaining weight as they grew older. That's three times more exercise than the 150 minutes a week that's necessary to lower the risk of heart disease and other illnesses. "You can still do much for your health with a lower level of exercise," says study author Dr. I-Min Lee. "But if you want to exercise for weight control, it's 60 minutes a day."

By exercise, researchers dont only mean time spent on a Stairmaster; brisk walking, yoga, and other daily activities count, too. The researchers noted that there is an alternative to spending seven hours a week exercising, if your goal is to avoid weight gain: Steadily cut down on calories as you get older.

Ben Roethlisberger.......

Ok, at what point do these professional athletes settle down. You pretty much have it all, money, fame, career, etc. Professional athletes are living their dream, why would you do anything to jeopardize that.

Ben Roethlisberger has made the headlines, again. This time not in a good way. The allegations against him are as big since Michael Vick. Ben's case involves sexual assault or rape. However preparing for his future court dates, suddenly the charges were dropped due to the lack of evidence so says the accuser. Hmmm......

What is really going on? Did Ben pay her off......
