Functional training is a method that activates all the major muscle groups with compound movements. It should develop all of the major fitness attributes: strength, flexibility, speed, power, agility, anaerobic, and cardio endurance, balance, and a wide variety of motor skills.
Coach John "Sully" Sullivan of Excel Sports and Fitness has demonstrated the method of functional training to a group of female athletes. This program is designed to give a spectrum of intensities and "functional" experiences and how women can benefit from this type of training.

Description:
Broken down into four circuits with 3-4 exercises per circuit. Depending on rest periods, loads, and other variables; some circuits stressed less intensity/aerobic capacity, while others stressed higher intensity/power or endurance.
Personally, I love a hardcore workout any day!!!

Atlanta Dream Shooting Stars Auditions
It is that time again for Atlanta Dream Shooting Stars Auditions!!!
The audition info and the prep class is now on the site. Here is the link to the flyers (they are pretty large files). The first clinic may not make, but if you would like to participate on Thursday April 1, please email me (Nicole)ASAP.

PRELIMINARY AND SEMIFINAL AUDITIONS-CLOSED to the public
Date: April 18, 2010
Time: Registration begins at 10am and auditions begin promptly at 11am
Locations: Concourse Athletic Club (8 Concourse Pkwy. NE, Atlanta, Ga 30328-5345)
WHAT TO BRING:
1. Valid state-issued ID
2. $25.00 non-refundable registration fee (cash or money order only)
3. Wear comfortable dance/cheer attire (fitted -shirt/tank top and shorts/pants for males; tank top, sports bra, dance trunks, tights and tennis/jazz shoes for females)
4. Atlanta Dream cheer team application, dance/cheer or professional resume
5. Current 4x6 photo (non-returnable)
6. Please bring a light lunch, water bottles, snacks and towel
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
A diverse group of female and male cheerleaders and/or dancers, ages 18 and up. GED or high school diploma. Previous dance or cheerleadering experience. Tumble skills are a bonus.
Must be able to commit to the practices, Atlanta Dream home games, playoffs, community appearances, and other schedules events.
INTERVIEWS:

Time: 4p-7p (will sign up for a time)

Food Control
Many of us what to change certain things about ourselves and doing whatever measures to get it done. Whether its getting plastic surgery, obsessing about exercise, or extreme dieting to get what we want. Dieting is a word that I rather not use. Food control is a better term. Food control is monitoring what you eat on a day to day basis without having the effects of boredom and withdraws. Following a food control program can lead to a much happier and healthier lifestyle.
I honestly feel people know how to eat healthy. Its just a matter of dedication, determination, and consistency. And there are people that really have absolutely no clue. Healthy eating can also put a hole in your pocketbook, but its the same as spending money on things to you want (hair, clothes, vacations, etc). You don't ever want to put a price tag on your health.
So I want you to control the food you put into your body and exercise to compliment the result. If you need help in preparing or having access to a control program, contact your local nutritionist or fitness center or me for that matter. :)
